Traditional Thai Medicine
Traditional Thai Medicine at Chivitr
Traditional Thai Medicine (TTM) is an ancient healing practice with roots as old as time, drawing from Ayurvedic principles. At the core of TTM is the understanding that our bodies contain four essential elements, and an imbalance among these can lead to various ailments and illnesses. TTM doctors undergo extensive training, honing their skills in diagnostics and treatments. They provide personalised care plans based on thorough physical examinations, detailed questionnaires, and in-depth consultations.
Traditional Thai Medicine Services and Treatments
Doctor Consultation
Traditional Thai Medicine (TTM) is an ancient healing system that balances four bodily elements: earth, water, wind, and fire. At Chivitr, our TTM Doctor Consultation is the first step in your wellness journey. During this comprehensive session, our highly trained practitioner conducts a thorough physical examination, reviews your medical history through an in-depth questionnaire, and engages in a detailed consultation to understand your lifestyle and symptoms. This holistic evaluation enables the doctor to accurately diagnose imbalances and develop a personalised treatment plan, recommending the most suitable TTM therapies and herbal remedies to restore your body's natural harmony.
30 to 45 minutes 800 THB
Thai Herbal Steam (การอบสมุนไพร)
This treatment is similar to a Thai herb steam sauna but with a personalised touch. The TTM Doctor selects a specific blend of herbs to address the individual's symptoms. The therapy is in the privacy of a specialised steam bath designed to promote muscle relaxation. Alternatively, you can inhale the steam to clear mucus and open up nasal passages, throat, and lungs, providing respiratory relief.
30 minutes: 800 THB
Herbal Mask for Skin (การพอกยา)
In this treatment, the TTM Doctor creates a custom mask using powdered herbal medicines mixed with immunological agents. The mask is applied in two stages—'hot' and 'cold'. The 'hot' herbs warm the body, reducing the wind element and increasing blood flow. The 'cold' herbs then cool the body, reducing the fire element and inflammation. This process relaxes the body and calms the mind, effectively addressing various skin complaints.
30 minutes: 1,300 THB
Herbal Mask for Eyes & Therapeutic Head Massage (การพอกตา)
This treatment utilises Traditional Thai Herbs with cooling properties, primarily 'Fa thalai chon' or Andrographis paniculata, known to brighten and soothe the eyes. The combination of herbs relieves migraines and headaches and addresses strained, dry, and tired eye issues. The therapeutic head massage enhances the overall relaxation and healing effect.
30 minutes or 60 minutes: Price: 1,800 THB or 2,700 THB
Hot Herbs & Therapeutic Massage (การเผายา)
Operating on the principle of increasing the fire element in specific body parts, the treatment begins with applying fresh herbal medicine with 'hot' properties, followed by a therapeutic massage on the treated area. Therapists apply the treatments to the stomach for constipation or wind relief, joints for aches and pain relief, or back for office syndrome pain. This treatment benefits those with depleted 'Pitta' (heat) conditions.
30 minutes or 60 minutes: 1,800 THB or 2,700 THB
Thai Therapeutic Massage (นวดกดจุดรักษา)
This specialised massage goes beyond traditional Thai massage, targeting specific pain or discomfort areas. TTM Doctors thoroughly assess you before employing a series of manual techniques along the "sen-sib" (10 major meridian lines). The massage focuses on problem areas, can benefit various digestive and hormonal disorders, and alleviate nerve, spine, and joint pain.
60 minutes: 2,000 THB
Herbal Mask for Joints & Therapeutic Massage (การพอกข้อกระดูก)
In Thai Traditional Medicine, joint pain is often attributed to blood and 'wind' flow obstruction. This treatment uses white clay and other anti-inflammatory herbs to absorb heat and relieve joint pain. The herbal mask is combined with a therapeutic massage to enhance its effectiveness in addressing joint issues.
60 minutes: 2,700 THB
Thai Traditional Herbal Remedies (การจ่ายยา)
Following a consultation or treatment, a TTM Doctor may prescribe herbal remedies comprising herbs and minerals based on Thai traditional pharmaceutical knowledge. These may include ethno-pharmaceutical or herbal drug remedies listed in Thailand's official drug list, providing a holistic approach to healing.
Price: Varies depending on the amount and type of herbal remedies
